Business Cards: Defining Your Business in a Glance

Written by futurebusinessideas.com

Business cards are not just a way to let people know about you and your business, but they are a medium of showing prospects the style of your company.   Those rectangular pieces of paper are a reflection of your business, so you have to take the time to design them accordingly.  Business cards define businesses somewhat like clothing defines people.

Many times, business cards are the first impression prospects get of your business.  Like most things in life, first impressions are extremely important, and in business, it can mean the difference between a sale or not.  Big companies know that an attractive business card is important, and that is why most of the time you will find that the business cards of large companies are more appealing than that of small businesses.

What makes a business card unique?  Many factors decide whether a business card is a general success or failure.  Features such as glossiness, design, and even paper quality enhance a business card.  Embellishments such as stickers, seals, or signatures also can make a business card better.  It is crucial to make a business card attractive and somewhat showy, but not overshadow the most important information, such as your name, number, and of course the title of your business.

Although a business card is small, the money it takes to build one can be substantial.  Odds are, if you work for a small business (or own one), you do not have endless funds to pour into something like a business card.  Thankfully, with a little time, you can design your own business card that could be as good as any big business.  First and foremost, the colors of the business card should match the colors of your brand.  Second, experiment with the format of the text, and ask as many people as possible for their opinion on each test card.  Third, place your logo prominently on the card; a good enough size to be recognizable, but not enough to take up half the card.  And throughout the whole process, be sure to get the opinions of many other people; the more, the better.
