Becoming a Power Seller

Written by futurebusinessideas.com

For most people, being average is not good enough.  There are several measures that one can take to advance their status to the next level.  In selling terms, that next level is being a power seller.  Power sellers garner respect, admiration, and most importantly, increased sales and revenue.

So you know that it is important to be a power seller, but how do you get there?  For one, you must surround yourself with power sellers, or at least positive and successful people.  These people will either directly or indirectly motivate you to strive for excellence.  They also exhibit the exact qualities and skills you need to acquire.

Almost as important as having great, inspiring friends is appointing some personal sales heroes.  Finding them is not as difficult as you may think.  Recall renowned writers, seminar hosts, and even infomercial stars.  There is no limit to how many heroes you can have; some people have identified dozens.  Heroes are a continuing source of inspiration, ideas, and motivation, so choose carefully.

Power sellers never stop learning.  They are always looking for ways to increase their level of education and are never content with their current level of knowledge.  Consistently reading, listening to informative tapes, and attending educational seminars keeps your mind sharp on a conscious and subconscious level.  Just talking to other salespeople can be considered an educational opportunity as long as you utilize it.

If you are still having trouble advancing your skills, do not be afraid to request the chance to shadow the top salesperson in your company.  Usually, the salesperson will be happy to help out a fellow colleague.  This is perhaps the best thing you can do to help implement a personal transformation.  Actually seeing a salesman in action shows you exactly what you need to do to be successful.

The most successful salespeople always have one or two specific inspirational objects, whether they are physical or intangible.  Inspiration may even come from the desire to prove someone wrong, or live up to a family member's or friend's expectations.  The top salesperson in the world, Joe Girard, became what he is today because he wanted to show his father that he was not a failure.
