Terrible Business Start Up Advice

Written by futurebusinessideas.com

Here is some start up business advice that we suggest you DO NOT follow. If you receive this kind of advice from a "business adviser" it is recommended that you never speak to them ever again. If you want to be a fly by night business charlatan then, by all means, follow what is written below. However, if you're aiming for long-term success and a solid reputation please use the following as a guide to what NOT to do and use it as an example of the kind of advice one should avoid.

If you are like most people who are starting out in a small business then you will have to make do with less start up capital then you would like. However; by being clever you can help to make up for any cash shortfall and get the best bang for the buck from the money that you have to invest. You are going to have to cut your own path so don't be afraid to break a few rules along the way, because big businesses do it all the time.

Business License and Insurance

If you are starting a small business that is going to serve your local community, such as any type of home maintenance or service oriented business that you will operate out of your home, consider skipping getting a business license and insurance. Insurance is expensive and a formal license is taken out at the county tax assessors office and only lets him know that you are in business. Simply state on your business cards and website that you are licensed and insured, because no one is ever going to check.

Pad Your Credentials

Pad your credentials and track record as you see fit. No one is ever going to research what ever it is that you are presenting, so there is all sorts of stuff that you can say and do. Double the number of years of experience that you have. Take pictures of other peoples work around your community and then post them in your website, as if it was your own.

Customer Testimonials

Another great idea is to fabricate a good looking sign on cardboard, attach it to the side of a nice commercial building and take a photo of it. Post it on your website and everyone who sees it will assume that you are operating out of that building. Another idea is to find pictures of people on the Internet and post them in your website with fake customer testimonials that you write up yourself.
